The Baie de Somme lends itself to much more than swimming. At Cayeux-sur-Mer, the pebbles give way to a seafront ideal for cycling and sand yachting.
Le Crotoy and Saint-Valery-sur-Somme offer perfect conditions for observing grey seals and seal calves, particularly visible at low tide on the sandbanks. Hiking trails run alongside dunes, wet meadows and pine woods – a natural playground for families camping in the area.

Before heading out onto the foreshore, it’s essential to check tide times with your local tourist office or the Somme prefecture. Supervised bathing areas are limited to certain areas and times – beach signs are authoritative.

Dogs are welcome on Baie de Somme campsites , and must be kept on a leash both on site and within the campsite.
Dogs are allowed on the beach, generally outside supervised swimming areas and at specific times – often before 9am and after 7pm in season. Dogs are required to wear a leash along the entire coastline. On the other hand, dogs are not allowed near classified dunes, which are nesting areas, whatever the season.
